Dear Colleague,

The below-named members of the CPSU Executive Committee wish to place on record our objection to and distance ourselves from, the recent public and internal statements of our General Secretary, Blair Horan, regarding the Croke Park deal. 

In doing so we also wish to clarify what we believe to be the true position taken from the Executive Committee meeting of 24th June, 2010 regarding the new proposals.

Three communities protested in unity at Dublin City Council to save local services under threat of closure. Crumlin, Sean McDermot Street and Coolock pools are facing closure by DCC. These communities held a protest at a council meeting where the council passed a motion to defend the pools

A well attended annual general meeting of the academic section of SIPTU at NUI Galway has rejected the General Public Services Agreement (the so-called ‘Croke Park Proposals’).

Meeting in Cork last night, the national committee of SIPTU firefighters voted overwhelmingly to reject the sell-out Public Sector "Pay Deal" that the union leaders are pushing.

service deal is a historic betrayal of public service union members by ICTU and
its Public Services Negotiating Committee of general secretaries, writes Paddy Healy,
Chair, National Public Services Alliance

The ICTU-Government proposals on the public
sector represent an historic betrayal by the union leaders and should be
decisively rejected by members.

Throughout the Civil and Public services, a new drive to
‘Save the Planet’ is being heralded and encouraged.

A new Dundalk Public Sector Workers’ Alliance is now underway. Its aim is to co-ordinate a major Fight Back to this government’s
slashing of public services both in terms of funding and in terms of adequate
staffing numbers to provide public services and of wages to public servants.
